Pleasure Valley Track Facts

Pleasure Valley Ranch was one of the main attractions in Oshawa opening up in the late 1930s and owned by business man George James.

The Ranch had many activities to choose from including walking trails, horse back riding, a man made lake, ice skating, tabogganning and in 1952, George built Pleasure Valley Speedway.

Pleasure Valley Speedway was a very dusty 1/4 mile dirt oval. The track was located just off Simcoe Street, just South of Taunton Road. This property is now a part of Camp Samac (a Scout Camp).

The track was at the bottom of the hill with a lake off the number two corner. Yes, a few drivers tested the waters over the years. It is said that there used to be a boat in the lake during the races to get to the drivers in a hurry if necessary.

Pleasure Valley only lasted two years before it was sold to Scouts Canada to be used as a camp within the Scouting Community.
